How fast can passenger airplanes fly?

Excluding the Concorde which traveled at supersonic speeds, the maximum speed of most commercial airplanes will be in the range of 1050-1100 Km /h (about 0.9 mach)

See also: an interesting discussion on the maximum allowed speed for civilian aircraft. Essentially, it appears that for most cases civilian / passenger aircraft are not allowed to travel at speeds beyond 1 Mach.
